Wednesday Morning Coffee – 6/24/15

June 24th, 2015

Oh it’s glorious to be back home! I’ve spent the past few weeks traveling the mainland on a love-filling journey to meet my new granddaughter, little Ashlynn Rose, and to also meet my best friend’s new baby boy (with an impromptu stop in San Jose to do a little wine tasting!). I gotta say though; there really is no place like home. Especially when your home is the Valley Isle.

Weather on the Valley Isle   Rainy  79° scattered showers

Quote of the Week: “The reason why people give up so fast is because they tend to look at how far they still need to go, instead of how far they’ve gotten.”

Talk of the Town: Shops at Wailea Parking Fees Cause Outrage

mrshawaiiAs if Wailea wasn’t expensive enough, now the Shops at Wailea are charging its patrons for parking. The plan has been known for months, and at one point there was speculation that the parking fees were going to be cancelled after people started voicing their outrage, but The Shops have just officially begun charging all parkers. A lot of the frustration is being voiced on social media, and it is spreading rapidly! Hundreds of people have already commented and shared a viral post about one woman’s furiousness about the situation and are fanning the fire in the hopes that they will stop the parking fees.

“After a 3 hour visit here with my family, the machine said it would cost $18.00. Wow! Really??? I did a poll with several of the stores we stopped in today and some would validate with a $35 minimum purchase (and would only give you an hour validation), and others wouldn’t validate with any amount (even at a designer clothing store).” In fact, the Shops at Wailea are even charging employees to park! Where’s the pono?

Who COULDN’T use a break? I’m not sure what my Independence Day plans are yet

(I’ll probably grillsome Portabello mushrooms with my husband, spend time with my chickens and enjoy a beautiful bottle of red wine!), but I do know that this 4th of July I would LOVE some financial independence. Tip #2 is especially interesting. Take a look.

Pic of the Week

aerialI am thrilled to be back home!!! Check out this beautiful view of our island as I flew in. Traveling can be a pain, and I have a real knack for getting homesick way too easily, but it’s times like these when I get the chance to sit back and take in the beauty of our home that it is all worthwhile. I can’t imagine a more perfect place to live. Maui really is no ka oi! Do you have an aerial shot of Maui too? Tag me on Instagram with @RESMaui so I can check it out! I would love to see it!
