Talk of the Town: Maui resident crowned Mrs. Hawai’i
Maui’s own Caroline Absalom was crowned the new Mrs. Hawaii! Yep, you read that correctly. Not Miss Hawaii, but Missus Hawaii. The “Mrs. America Pageant” maintains a long standing tradition of recognizing “America’s greatest natural resource – the contemporary married woman.” Absalom is now preparing to compete in the Mrs. America pageant in Savastopol, Russia on September 26 of this year. Mrs. America was the first and remains the foremost competition for the married woman of the United States. For nearly four decades Mrs. America has epitomized excellence, professionalism and the celebration of family values. Congratulations, Caroline! Do us wives proud!
Real Estate Article of The Week
Where has this article been my entire life? My father was in the military and a pilot, so my family and I moved 42 times (yes, FORTY TWO!). I have gotten great at moving day. However, even if you’ve done it almost four dozen times there is still that stress that comes with the big day. My husband and I experienced this just about a year ago when we moved up to our beautiful new home upcountry, and even though we weren’t moving to another state or across the ocean it still came with headaches! Try these 5 simple tips that can help the transition and make the whole process run smoother.
Pic of the Week
I am still so blown away by the Maui Film Festival. It’s been around since 1999 and I’ve gone a handful of times (unfortunately, I was off-island for this year’s festivities). It is such a blast to bring a bag of homemade popcorn and sit under the stars with friends. This picture captures the night so perfectly. It feels like half the island comes to the “Celestial Cinema” as we enjoy fantastic movies and an even more fantastic view of the sky. I hope to see you all there next year!
